Woah, there’s some impressive things happening at The Enchanted Ninja Clubhouse of Glory and Dreams, and I want to share those with you. When I first read Mark’s article about Creating Culture on The Personal Trainer Development Center, I thought, “Wow, this guy is nuts.”
This was confirmed when I met Mark, Brian, and Kyle at Perform Better and realized that they’re totally out of their minds in all the right ways. Magic happens at MFF on a regular basis, and I believe the mindset is everything:
Today I’d like to share some recent happenings from MFF with you for your viewing and reading pleasure. Away we go!
Last week Ninja Super-star Billy Rosen came in to the Dragon Lair with a huge smile on his face and said, “I’m going to deadlift 300lbs tonight!” He paused for a moment and added, “but I told Katie I would do it with her.” This wasn’t a problem with help from Trainer Matt Wilson and Ninjas Josh and Sam! We brought him downstairs, and Billy NAILED IT! Congratulations you stud!
As I continue to learn about exercise science, I’m investing more time into understanding the psychology of how we move rather than solely focusing on physiology. Facts and figures are grand, but too often they alienate and disenfranchise, rather than foster genuine appreciate for movement. When it comes to long-term happiness, I’m unconvinced that we should take a fact-based approach. Instead, focusing on how we feel can help us get better. Check out more of this in my piece, The Truth About Facts Vs. Feelings.
Feeling good is often looked at as an option once we take care of the important things, but it should be at the top of the priority list. MFF is all about being our authentic ridiculous self while being serious about fitness in the process. To help demonstrate this, I took a video at our last Team Meeting of the team practicing the newest moves for the month of April. Phase 4 is sure to be the most exciting yet:
If you haven’t found yourself at the MFF, then feel free to check out a review of one of my Circuit Party classes on Rate Your Burn. One of our Ninjas crushes classes at MFF and elsewhere, and writes up some detailed reviews of them. How detailed? She writes that I sport “this really groovy dragon beard that is super unique and awesome.” Check out more of Lauren’s review HERE.
If you’re living in or visiting NYC, come check out the Dragon Lair and Clubhouse and say hello. I’m off to get ready for an evening of bad-assery in the greatest city in the world!
